About the Internship

This part-time, paid or for-academic-credit,  internship program will allow you to be embedded in a growing education technology company seeking to make an impact on the lives of students by ensuring they are in school everyday.  This internship is a good fit for you if you:

  • Would like to lend your experience toward social good,
  • Love analysis, developing business relationships, and helping students
  • Are flexible, willing to stretch outside your comfort zone, and to wear many hats

At Kinvolved, you’ll report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the CEO and VP of District Partnerships on business development projects
  • Collaborating with the CFO and Board leadership on accounting and financial modeling
  • Participating in establishing business development, sales, and impact strategy

As part of your internship you’ll grow and be challenged, work on complex problems, and receive training in the industry. Candidates who are selected and are a strong fit  will be considered for potential future, full time roles.

Qualities/Experience Needed:

  • Current graduate MBA student (or other degree w/financial modeling experience) with authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to understand and model business scenarios and financial forecasts
  • Strong project management skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in K–12 education or education technology
  • An understanding of the K-12/chronic absenteeism policy landscape

  • The program has flexible start dates, as early as mid-November or late as early January 2019.

Client Operations Intern

Organization

Client Operations Intern

Reporting to the Director of Professional Services, this role supports the client operations of a growing education technology company. The intern will receive hands-on experience providing customer support and managing logistics for our client events.

This is a great opportunity for anyone planning to work in education, education technology, event coordination and planning, or customer relations.

You’re a good fit if you:

  • Love operations, developing client relationships and helping students
  • Are flexible, willing to stretch outside your comfort zone, and can wear many hats

This is a part-time internship with a commitment of 10–20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Complete research on existing districts
  • Assist in brainstorming and planning for user-based events and trainings  
  • Support with logistics of user-based events and trainings
  • Create content material and videos that helps support users’ KiNVO knowledge

Qualities and qualifications

  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, with authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to learn and understand client operations and customer support models
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in K–12 education or education technology
  • An understanding of the education policy landscape

Internship Term: Spring semester (Jan–June), however we are open to an earlier start date.

Compensation: Course credit. You will need to confirm feasibility before accepting a role with our company.

Customer Support Associate

Customer Support Associate

Supports client operations for a growing education technology company and get hands-on experience by providing customer support to our educators nationwide.

You’re a good fit if you:

  • Love operations, developing client relationships, and helping students
  • Enjoy solving problems and helping others
  • Would like to lend your experience toward social good

This is a six-month, part-time, position reporting to the Chief Product Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Answer customer support questions through our help desk
  • Conduct customer support phone calls
  • Organize customer questions, pain points, and feedback to report to Kinvolved leadership
  • Create content material and videos that helps support users’ KiNVO knowledge

Qualities and qualifications

  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Answering questions and solving problems
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to learn or understand client operations and customer support models

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in K–12 education or education technology
  • Experience in customer support

Contract period: January–June 2019, with the opportunity to extend your contract or advance to full-time, salaried employment.

Hourly commitment: 15 hours/week

Compensation: Hourly

Location: Kinvolved is based in New York City, but this position can be done remotely so long as you are available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern.

School Training Associate

School Training Associate (Contractor)

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this role supports client trainings for a growing education technology company. The contractor will provide in-person, school-based trainings for New York City schools.

This is a great opportunity for anyone planning to work in education, education technology, or professional services, as well as for anyone interested in training educators and administrators.

You’re a good fit if you:

  • Love teaching educators and administrators how to use technology
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Would like to lend your experience toward social good

This is a contracted role, and you will need to be available on demand to provide school-based trainings across the five boroughs of the New York City.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver in-person trainings for educators and administrators
  • Teach educators and administrators how to use KiNVO, Kinvolved’s web and mobile app
  • Support educators and administrators in strategic KiNVO implementations, in alignment with Kinvolved’s curriculum on family engagement and attendance improvement
  • Gather and report feedback collected during trainings

Qualities and qualifications

  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work one-on-one with educators and administrators
  • Ability to deliver a presentation in front of a large group of people
  • Previous experience in education

Contracting period: As needed by the company, from January through June 2019. This contractor role may extend to the 2019–2020 school year, with room for potential full-time employment and growth.

Compensation: Hourly rate for travel and trainings.
